I went back through the numbers from the pilot beds and I'm now fairly convinced: drip lines on a timer beat the sprinkler idea by a wide margin. We'd use roughly a third of the water, the foliage stays dry (which the mildew on the squash last year was really about), and the whole run can hang off the existing hose bib on the north wall. No trenching, no permit.
I've attached a revised plan and an SVG of the bed layout so you can move things around. The one open question is the timer — the cheap one needs a battery swap every season, the wired one needs an outlet we don't have yet. I'd start cheap and upgrade if the committee approves the second phase.
Could we get ten minutes on Thursday before the design review?

Thanks for taking this on. My only worry with sprinklers is the wind up there — half the water ends up on the parking deck. If drip is cheaper and less fiddly I'm all for it. Send the plan when you have it and I'll put it on Thursday's agenda.
